Recommendations for Routine Care and Cleaning

A natural stone countertop is an investment that will last you many years. With proper care, it can be worry free, giving you many years of lasting beauty and durability. Here are some recommendations for routine care and cleaning.

The natural stone used for your countertop has been sealed with a penetrating sealer. This helps protect it against water, oil and everyday common stains. Therefore, we recommend that you clean your natural stone regularly with mild dish soap and warm water (example: Palmolive.) You may also use products specially formulated for natural stone. The use of products that are not safe for natural stone may discolour the surface, scratch the stone or damage the sealer.

SileStone and Hanstone quartz countertops are engineered from the hardest minerals in the world and do not have a penetrating sealer applied. In most cases, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that is required to maintain its luster. If necessary, a non-abrasive cleanser such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel with Bleach or Vim Cream/Gel can be used with a non-abrasive pad such as Scotch-Brite.
